Mark and Audrey Sherwood, together with their two sons and two daughters, live in Henderson, NV. All four of Mark’s children currently attend Clark County public schools.
Mark Sherwood is the publisher of the monthly magazine ParentsGuide of Las Vegas. As publisher of ParentsGuide, Mark works with dozens of small businesses in Henderson and Las Vegas who are struggling to provide goods and services to Southern Nevada residents. Mark understands it is critical for our elected officials to back public policy which strengthens families and promotes economic growth.
Mark was recruited to Nevada by the Las Vegas Review-Journal where he worked as an advertising manager responsible for an annual budget of more than $20 million. Getting to know the team of journalists and editors who produce Nevada’s largest daily newspaper helped Mark develop an appreciation for the unique challenges facing our community.
Mark has seen good local government in action. He worked in New York City in the mid 1990’s when Rudy Giuliani and other local officials were reviving New York from two decades of decline. Mark lived in Santiago, Chile for two years on a church sponsored mission and witnessed the positive growth as an entire nation embraced free market ideals and democratic reforms.
Mark has also seen bad government. Living in New Jersey for six years and experiencing the burdens of excessive taxes, over-regulation and bloated government bureaucracies has inoculated Mark from embracing the type of ‘progressive policies’ that are the hallmark of all failing states.
Mark is a past member of Las Vegas Rotary and is a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a current member of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Mark serves on the Community Outreach Board for the Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas. Mark also volunteers for the Boy Scouts of Amercia (Troop Committee Chairman, Troop 449) and City of Henderson Parks & Rec (Youth Basketball Coach).
